Laetare Sunday


The second "Rose Sunday" in the Roman Rite, the Fourth Sunday in Lent, is upon us! It comes from the Latin text of the Introit, as seen above. Here is the text from the Anglican Use:


It is exciting to see the practice of Rose Sundays making a return these days. This year's "Year B" Gospel lesson actually goes quite nicely with the Laetare Introit: "Jesus said to Nicodemus: "Just as Moses lifted up the serpent in the wilderness, so must the Son of Man be lifted up, that whoever believes in him may have eternal life."
